Brilliant exposition. If the proponents of the argument stopped to consider that the southern hemisphere of our globe has not warmed in the last three decades things could be different.
Brilliantly stated, Chris. This should be compulsory reading for every politician, particularly those from the LNP, as they seek to rebrand the coalition and explain its policies to the electorate.
At a pre-election soiree held near Albany, the safely ensconced incumbent Member politely advised me to abandon my campaign against the lemming like leap to renewables. This issue was now dead, in the collective mind of the coalition.
The gathering that evening consisted largely of party faithful approaching their best-before dates, with literally only a handful of aspirational young folk.
The LNP is over-branding. Obliterating every trace of past principles.
My first recognition of the use of deceptive pollie-speak was in 1975 when Whitlam was on the hustings following his unseating and prior to the subsequent federal election. He boldly claimed, with quivering jowl, that "Australia has never known such prosperity". Yeah, right! Big spending and tariff cuts sent inflation from 6% at the start of his reign, to over 15% in 1975! Okay, the 'oil shock' of, I think '73, had something to do with it but the absurd prosperity claim was a perfect example of what you described. Maybe, just maybe, people in cities will only wake up when the last espresso machine is turned off, just after the last aluminum pot line is emptied and the working souls are drafted into the holding pen of penury.
The Whitlam Government 25% tariff cut was instituted to help lower the inflation that had already occurred, it was not a cause of inflation. The inflation was caused by printing too much money. Low tariffs always reduce inflation because competition increases.
Masterful and brilliant article Chris. In your articles and appearances on SKY you beautifully weave in acknowledgement of God our creator. It is obvious that the climate catastrophists with their destructive renewable tunnel vision are blinded by the false god. They have our country on a path of productivity and economic ruin.
At present the forces of darkness have the upper hand, but surely this will turn.
Thanks, Chris, for your mini-sermon and declaring your allegiance to the God of faith.
I think it worth noting that should the references to Eden, Satan and paradise be simply myth, then we have every reason to be worried about our temporary sojourn here on earth as we consume resources and progressively destroy our home and eventually be subjected to blind, random and meaningless evolutionary forces until we return to the dust. In a mythological history of our origins, there really is no God, at least no providential god, to which we can call upon or reference as our moral and ethical basis. We are alone in the universe and probably would find it wise to do all we can to extend our time here, which is pretty much impossible.
However, if Eden and paradise is a once real place, to which we hope will be restored by the Creator and who will deal with the recalcitrant Satan and his minions, then there is hope - real hope - in a future where all is restored, including our relationship with the Creator.
By faith we believe God is real and really cares for His creation here on earth, including us. As such, we take seriously His word to us about our condition, our present, and our future. We are fallen creatures and yet highly intelligent after His image. As such we convert energy in its various forms to support life, working by the sweat of our brow to feed, clothe and shelter ourselves. And we rely upon His promises that this earth and its resources will remain, springtime and harvest, hot and cold, summer and winter, until He comes. As we are called to be stewards of the bounty He has provided, we are also called to wisely use the resources available to us. Subsequently, we can't destroy the earth as much as we might try. He won't permit it. So, we are right to call into question the entire climate change and climate boiling myth, and to carry out our love and care of the environment in our care for each other by sensibly utilizing the earth's resources and converting energy in all its forms for the good of society, especially the poor.
Without a heavenly perspective we are doomed to attempt to be gods and 'save' this planet, to control its environment, which we can never achieve. Instead, honoring the Creator and obeying His charge to be stewards and wise inhabitants, we can confidently live on this planet using the resources He has provided, to be and remain faithful servants of the Lord. All this to say that you are so right to call out politicians, and others, blind fools who would seek to deceive and mislead society by their encrypted words, hiding in plain sight, but fully visible to the Creator. They will be held accountable in the end.
All power and strength to you Chris as you continue to fight the good fight.
I'm reminded of the old joke about the drowning man who denies all manner of assistance and when he finally drowns and arrives at the pearly gates asks God why he didn't answer his prayers and save him. God says, what do you mean? I sent you a life jacket, a life boat, ....
Obviously cycling between cooler and warmer. Warmest January early 1970s and the coolest January late 1960s. Range about 0.7C. No trend discernible. Does the greenhouse effect exist? Can it skip a month?
You are a master Chris in how you get to the core issues in your articles and podcasts. Thank you. How on earth do we ever get these clowns to stop?

If only, Elizabeth. If only.

The covid years proved that most Aussies are gullible, gutless lickspittle lemmings. Our politicians are a reflection of the populace.

It takes a lot of hard work to turn a cheap food, cheap energy country into a high cost of living country.
Here in New York State the state government has put us on the same path to poverty.
It’s a maddening outrage!

Thank you Chris - Imago Dei
The federal budget must soon enough forego
Myriads upon myriads of dollars,
If we agree to eliminate fossil fuels -
And in so doing bring our coal and gas
Exports to zero. Will this not shake
The foundations of today's economy?
It will: like as the night follows the day.

The winter tomatoes seem to think it exists.
Correction. Not warmed in the month of January.
