While I agree the ADF needs to increase its capacity, why would we allow the same people to simply waste 10s of billions through ineptitude, overspending, and treasonable procurement delays because of interference before and during almost all major acquisition contracts. What the taxpayer gives is brazenly wasted again and again. For instance we are still awaiting new frigates when we could have gotten better, faster and more lethal ships within 2 or 3 years from South Korea so giving the same players more won't solve our predicament.

We helped the Brits develop the Bomb at Maralinga and Monte Bello. Long past time we had our own equaliser and the means of delivering it.

When it comes to sending our forces overseas, we have an unfortunate history of backing losers and wasting our substance. Lets have an independent foreign policy based on a frank assessment of where the threats lie. The Aukus engagement was a mistake.

As usual, politicians think everybody is a nice guy and will take notice and do what the MP's tell them. Chinese ships have been sitting off our coastline for years and I am quite sure that the top dogs in China would not be paying the crew on these ships if there was not a very good reason (to them) for the ships to be there. Becausr the ships remain in international waters nothing can make them move but I am quite sure that the crew would not be paid if there was not a very good reason to China why are they there. I Hope Australia is not their potential target.

A terrific interview. I’m concerned that increasing spending won’t increase capability. We need to reform our wasteful, ineffective defence mentality first.

“The history of failure in war can almost be summed up in two words: 'Too late.' Too late in comprehending the deadly purpose of a potential enemy; too late in realizing the mortal danger; too late in preparedness; too late in uniting all possible forces for resistance, too late in standing with one's friends.”

I’m no fan of Douglas MacArthur, but he wasn’t wrong here. It’s not too late yet, but it will be soon if the current Government (and the opposition and mainstream media) don’t start moving.
